Senior Administration Officer

We’re seeking a Senior Administration Officer to join the Student and Academic Administration team within the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work, where you’ll play a key role in supporting students, academics and stakeholders while ensuring the smooth and effective operation of the School. You’ll deliver high-level administrative advice and services in line with University policies and legislation, work closely with the Manager, Student and Academic Administration to resolve complex matters, provide day-to-day guidance, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Based at UQ’s beautiful St Lucia campus, this role primarily supports the School’s undergraduate programs in Nursing, Social Work and Counselling, offering the opportunity to make a genuine impact in a collaborative and purpose-driven environment.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and support administrative operations, including supervising staff, delivering training, and ensuring compliance with University policies and procedures.
  • Provide expert advice on student and academic matters, supporting undergraduate and postgraduate coursework programs, complex student cases, and study plan variations.
  • Manage course and program administration, including course rules and changes, course profiles, content management systems, and coordination of learning platforms such as Blackboard and SECaT.
  • Coordinate key student lifecycle activities, including postgraduate admissions, orientations, study abroad approvals, and representation at student recruitment and engagement events.
  • Contribute to governance and continuous improvement, providing committee support, preparing high-quality documentation, overseeing payments and reporting, and enhancing administrative processes.

About You

We are seeking an organised and enthusiastic Senior Student Administration Officer with:

  • A relevant undergraduate qualification with experience in student or academic administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong ability to analyse information, interpret policies and procedures, and apply sound judgement to support accurate, compliant and timely outcomes.
  • Demonstrated high attention to detail and problem-solving capability, particularly when managing complex student matters or sensitive information.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear, professional documentation and provide consistent advice.
  • Proven capacity to build effective working relationships with students, academics and professional staff, using empathy and cultural awareness.
  • Highly organised and adaptable, with the ability to prioritise workloads, meet deadlines, and maintain quality in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.

Appointment to this role is subject to the successful completion of relevant pre-employment checks, which may include verification of the right to work in Australia.
