As a Senior Awards Officer, you will be at the heart of the University’s grant management, overseeing the full post-award lifecycle for prestigious research projects. This opportunity allows for you to work under broad direction, expertly navigating complex fundamental agreements, ensuring compliance with University and funding provider policies, and building valuable connections with stakeholders in both academic and funding communities. In this dynamic role, you’ll leverage your expertise to manage agreements and contracts, contribute innovative solutions to research funding challenges, and guide team members to deliver a high-quality, customer-focused service. Working collaboratively with a wide network across UQ, you’ll play a vital part in driving the University’s research initiatives forward, providing an essential bridge between researchers and their funding partners. If you are a skilled professional with a passion for research administration and a commitment to excellence in service delivery, join us in advancing the impact of UQ’s research on a global scale.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Oversee the entire post-award lifecycle for research grants, including the preparation, review and execution of grant agreements, ensuring all processes comply with UQ and funding provider policies and standards to support successful research outcomes.
  • Act as a subject matter expert by offering timely, authoritative advice on research funding management, delivering high quality customer service to UQ researchers and funding partners, and proactively addressing their needs and resolving issues efficiently.
  • Lead the establishment, negotiation, and coordination of contracts and agreements with competitive funding providers, ensuring these agreements align with UQ’s policies, risk appetite, and the specific requirements of partners and sponsors.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement by reviewing and refining business practices within the awards team, while providing guidance and mentorship to junior staff to foster a customer-centric approach and enhance team capabilities.

  • 17% superannuation contributions
  • 17.5% annual leave loading
