Join the University of Canterbury as our next Senior Business Analyst and help shape the future of learning and teaching experiences for our diverse community.
Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
As a Senior Business Analyst, you'll be both a team player and a coach—eliciting, analysing, and validating business needs for innovative projects. You'll work closely with Product Managers, delivery teams, and stakeholders to ensure solutions are fit-for-purpose and deliver real value.
You will focus on:
- Creating effective communication and relationship-building with stakeholders across the University
- Gathering, analysing, and documenting business and technical requirements for digital solutions
- Facilitating workshops, meetings, and presentations with senior stakeholders
- Supporting the development and delivery of product roadmaps, business cases, and process models
- Championing continuous improvement, simplification, and DevSecOps practices.
Mōu | Who You Are
You will have at least 10 years' experience as a Business Analyst in IT with a commercial or private sector, hold a Bachelor's degree (NZQA Level 7) in IT, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
You will also be able to demonstrate:
- Strong technical background and ability to lead technical teams
- Proven expertise in requirements gathering, gap analysis, data modelling, and process mapping
- Experience delivering digital solutions and developing business rules/policies
- Skilled facilitator of large meetings and workshops with senior stakeholders
- Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and mentoring of other BAs
- Familiarity with Agile and Lean methodologies
- Excellent communication, documentation, and organisational skills
