This full-time, permanent role attracts a salary of $138,681 - $146,497 per annum (G09) plus 17% superannuation.

About the Role

Curtin University is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Database Administrator to join our Digital & Technology Solutions team. This is a key technical leadership role responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, security and future capacity of Curtin’s enterprise database platforms and services.

As a senior specialist within IT Operations, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the University’s mission by delivering world-class ICT infrastructure, mentoring colleagues, and contributing to major technology initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership in the design, implementation and optimisation of enterprise database platforms, with a strong focus on Microsoft SQL Server and related technologies.
  • Ensure high availability, performance and service continuity of centrally managed databases through proactive monitoring, tuning and fault resolution.
  • Lead capacity planning, disaster recovery and service continuity initiatives.
  • Mentor and guide other technical staff, sharing expertise and promoting best practice.
  • Contribute to major ICT projects and the evaluation of new and emerging technologies.
  • Work closely with stakeholders across the University and external vendors to deliver reliable, secure and scalable services.

Who we are looking for:

  • A relevant degree (or equivalent combination of education and extensive experience).
  • Demonstrated expertise in enterprise-class Microsoft SQL Server environments in large-scale production settings.
  • Strong experience in high availability, performance tuning, capacity management and service continuity planning.
  • Proven ability to provide technical leadership and mentor team members.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
  • A strong customer-focus and the ability to build collaborative relationships.

Desirable experience includes cloud or virtualised environments, Oracle and Linux administration, and relevant professional certifications.

Role Requirements:

  1. As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered

What We Offer You:

This full-time, permanent role attracts a salary of $138,681 - $146,497 per annum (G09) plus 17% superannuation.

  • Up to 17% superannuation, plus a variety of salary packaging options.
  • Parental leave (26 weeks for the primary caregiver), personal leave (14 days) and annual leave (20 days)
