Senior Director of Alumni Engagement, Colleges, Schools and Units
Florida State University is currently in the leadership phase of a comprehensive campaign. As the leadership phase of the campaign begins, the Division of University Advancement is accelerating the hiring of additional alumni engagement professionals’ campus-wide and is excited to build out its team. Responsibilities
Reporting to the President and CEO and AVP of Alumni Engagement, this position partners with DUA leadership, colleges, schools, & units (CSU) and other campus partners to implement a coordinated, enterprise-wide approach to alumni engagement strategy and contributes insight that informs the overall engagement strategy for the university. The role strengthens alumni connections, enhances programmatic collaboration and outcomes, and advances the mission and priorities of the DUA and Florida State University.
Colleges, Schools, and Units (CSU) AE leadership
- Provide strategic guidance and direct supervision to CSU-based assistant and associate directors of student and alumni engagement.
- Collaborate with volunteer engagement team and the CSU team to develop and implement college-based and university-wide engagement programming.
- Leverage central strategies when appropriate to support CSU goals.
- Ensure staff development and support to align with DUA priorities and intended outcomes.
Programs and Outreach
- Execute extensive portfolio of engagement programs including interdisciplinary and academic programming.
- Design and implement virtual programs and digital platforms that expand accessibility and participation among constituents; Identify and utilize digital tools and emerging technologies to foster meaningful alumni-alumni connections and alumni-to-university connections.
- Execute alumni and constituent opportunities to contribute to academic excellence through mentorship, guest speaking, and participation in program-specific events.
Campus Partnerships
- Build and sustain strong collaborative relationships with key campus partners and programs—including the FSU Career Center, Greek Life, International Programs, Graduate School, and Undergraduate Studies (CARE, Transfer and Unconquered Scholars)—to align alumni engagement efforts with priorities, foster open communication, shared goals, and coordinated initiatives that enhance student and alumni engagement.
- Serve as the primary liaison from FSU AA to all colleges and schools including FSU Panama City, providing guidance, best practices, and strategic consultation for campus partners.
- Convene and lead campus partner meetings at a regular cadence to produce understanding, alignment and results.
Data, Metrics, Budget
- Manage budget, track expenditures, and evaluate return on investment for key engagement programs and initiatives.
- Approve travel and programmatic expenses for CSU team.
- Lead the implementation and evolution of a comprehensive measurement framework aligned with CASE standards to assess engagement, outcomes, and impact.
- Collaborate with data management staff to ensure alumni engagement dashboard and metrics are meeting standards requested and required to show impact, outcomes.
- Ensure integrity of reporting both financial and data standards; Provide reports as requested.
Special Projects
- Represent FSU AA and senior leadership as requested to present, deliver remarks, serve on committees.
- Stay informed of evolving engagement practices and proactively implement improvements.
- Support central alumni engagement events through planning, staffing, and execution in consultation with President/CEO of the Alumni Association and Executive Director of DUA events.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and six years of experience in a related advancement services field or a high school diploma/equivalent and ten years of experience. (Note: post-high school education can substitute for experience at the equivalent rate.)
A valid Florida or Georgia Driver's License or the ability to obtain upon hire.
