The Accessibility & Disability Resource Centre (ADRC) invites applications for a part-time Senior Disability Adviser. This is a 2-year fixed-term role covering the secondment of the current post-holder. We welcome applications from internal candidates seeking a secondment opportunity.

The Senior Disability Adviser will manage the essential guidance and advisory service provided to disabled students (other than those with specific learning difficulties and ADHD) by the University's Accessibility & Disability Resource Centre. The post-holder will work closely with the Head of the ADRC on the management of policies and procedures relating to support for disabled students across the University.

You will manage the Disability Advisory team, comprising 7 members of staff which provides specialist advice, guidance and support to current and prospective disabled students (excluding students with Specific Learning Difficulties and ADHD), and staff who support these students. You will also work closely with academic and support staff within university departments and institutions as well as with other professional services staff within the University's Student Services Centre. The post-holder will report to the Head of the ADRC and will be part of the ADRC Senior Management team.

You will be qualified at degree level (or have equivalent relevant experience). Membership of a relevant professional body (such as NADP) at Senior Accredited Member level would be desirable. You should have recent relevant experience of advising disabled students in a higher education setting and experience of management of a disability advisory team in an educational setting would be desirable.

You will need excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to work with people from a wide variety of backgrounds, experiences and expectations, demonstrating a commitment to equality of opportunity. The ability to work to deadlines in a busy support service environment is essential.
