Senior Disability and Inclusion Coordinator

The Role

Reporting to the Student Mental Health and Wellbeing Manager, you will oversee the Disability & Inclusion Service, manage a team of Disability & Inclusion Advisors and maintain a complex and varied caseload. You will ensure the effective delivery of reasonable adjustments, inclusive support, and specialist guidance to students and colleagues, while contributing to the development of a university-wide inclusion strategy.

You will also work collaboratively across the Student Services & Experience directorate and the wider University to promote inclusive learning environments and equitable student outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Disability & Inclusion Team, overseeing service delivery, performance, and day-to-day operations
  • Manage a caseload of students with complex needs, ensuring appropriate support and reasonable adjustments are in place
  • Provide specialist advice and guidance to staff on supporting disabled students and inclusive practice
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the University’s Student Inclusion Strategy
  • Deliver training on disability awareness and relevant legislation, including the Equality Act
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to coordinate effective student support
  • Monitor service performance, maintain accurate records, and ensure compliance with regulatory and safeguarding requirements

About You

You will be an experienced professional with a strong understanding of disability support in Higher Education or a similar setting.

You will demonstrate:

  • Experience of leading or supervising staff and delivering services
  • Strong knowledge of disability legislation (including the Equality Act 2010) and inclusive practice
  • Experience supporting individuals with complex needs in a high-demand environment
  • Knowledge of assistive technologies, Non-Medical Help (NMH) provision and Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA)
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and influence stakeholders
  • A clear commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion

A degree (or equivalent experience) is essential. A relevant professional qualification or experience in disability and inclusion is desirable.
