Senior Engineer, Student Systems

- Remuneration: $138,193 to $156,633 pa (HEW8) (inclusive of $116,774 to $132,357 salary pa, 17% superannuation and 17.5% recreation leave loading)
- Location: Kelvin Grove (hybrid option available)

Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a Senior Engineer, Student Systems to join Digital Business Solutions, Administrative Division.
The Senior Engineer, Student Systems is a member of the Student and Stakeholder Engagement team who takes responsibility for maintaining and improving a complex landscape of student administration solutions, provide operational support to our customers and help implement QUT's digital transformation strategy. The Senior Engineer will be pivotal in contributing to configuration design practices and standards which ensures a sustainable platform. This will include, but not be limited to, standardised process design patterns, authentication and user profile designs, release and deployment management practices, documentation standards and testing and change processes. This role will work in partnership with team members, clients, vendors, and other IT professionals and has the focus on maintaining a range of solutions related to the Student and Stakeholder Engagement environment, encompassing Customer Relationship and Student Management Systems. The work undertaken by this team is critical to driving business efficiencies and it requires the person selected for the role to be contactable and/or work occasionally outside standard business hours. This position reports to the Principal Engineer, Student Systems for career planning, development, and performance expectations.

What you need to succeed
1. Education, training, and/or relevant experience equivalent to postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience.
2. Demonstrated experience in administrating, supporting and maintaining corporate systems and technologies.
3. Demonstrated experience in database query language (SQL), low-code application development, Crystal Reports, XML, and knowledge of VB.NET scripting or the ability and willingness to adapt to these and new technology skills.
4. Proven IT service/operations management expertise including but not limited to the following components:
• Change Control and Release Management
• Testing Management
• Change Management
• Service, Incident and Problem Management
5. Analytical skills including the ability to undertake advanced troubleshooting to identify, diagnose, and resolve problems or to propose solutions to complex problems while exercising professional judgement to achieve excellence in client service.
6. Demonstrated interpersonal, communication and time management skills, including conflict management and negotiation skills, and a proven approach in building successful collaborative working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders that support achievement of outcomes in a high-level interdependency working environment.
