The UKRI Centre for Doctoral Training in Safe and Trusted Artificial Intelligence (STAI CDT) is led by King’s College London in collaboration with Imperial College London. King’s and Imperial are renowned for their expertise in AI and host some of the world’s leaders in the area.
The post will be based in King’s College London’s Faculty of Natural, Mathematical & Engineering Sciences (NMES), a vibrant faculty based in the heart of London with a long tradition of world-leading research and teaching in physics, mathematics, chemistry, informatics and engineering.
About the role:
The STAI CDT are seeking an experienced business development professional, ideally with experience of working within the AI sector, to be responsible for securing external funding, developing industry partnerships, and establishing revenue-generating collaborations for the STAI CDT. This includes approaching potential new partners and developing relationships with existing partners, all with the aim of maximising both the financial sustainability and industry impact of the STAI CDT.
Working closely with the STAI CDT Director and Management Team, the Senior External Engagement Manager will develop close working relationships with academic and professional services staff at both King’s College London and Imperial College London.
The post is a full time (35 hours a week), fixed-term post until 30th September 2027.
About you:
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria:
- Good standard of general education e.g. A level or equivalent.
- Excellent communication skills across multiple media platforms and for a range of audiences and purposes, including excellent written and spoken English.
- Able to think strategically and develop strategic direction.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to work to different and competing priorities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and work with a range of stakeholders.
- Able to work independently, to manage own workload and set priorities, in order to deliver on key targets.
- Experience of building and managing relationships with external partners.
Desirable criteria:
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent.
- Experience of working in the Higher Education sector and familiarity with HE administration.
- Experience of fundraising.
- Understanding of the AI ecosystem.
- Network of industry and/or philanthropic contacts relevant to safe and trustworthy AI.
