About the Role
In this role, you will manage day to day academic policy operations and lead policy development and review. Working with stakeholders across the University, you will provide expert advice on policy interpretation and implement improvements that ensure policies are clear, compliant and fit for purpose.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing the policy development process and drafting policy documents.
- Engaging stakeholders and coordinating consultations.
- Advising on policy application and maintaining policy records.
You may be a great fit if:
- You hold relevant tertiary qualifications and experience in higher education, or bring equivalent education and experience.
- You have experience designing, reviewing, and implementing policies, with a strong track record in project-style policy work.
- You demonstrate excellent research, analytical, and writing skills, and can produce clear policy documents, reports, and briefings.
- You can confidently interpret and apply legislation, standards, and complex rules within an organisational or higher education context.
- You can manage competing priorities, work autonomously, and deliver high quality outputs within tight timeframes.
- You bring knowledge of Australian higher education regulation, including TEQSA, HESF, and ESOS, or can quickly acquire it.
This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.

The University Governance Team provides expert advice and governance support to the University Council and its subcommittees (including the Academic Board), the University Executive and the wider university community.
The Academic Governance Team provides expert advice and governance support to the Academic Board and its committees, oversees the development and review of Academic Board policies, and administers academic appeals. The Corporate Governance Team provides expert advice and governance support to the Council and its non‑academic committees, the University Executive and University‑controlled entities, and oversees the development and review of Council policies.
University Governance also oversees the University's regulatory framework. The University Secretary is the University's delegated FOI Officer and Privacy Officer, and is the contact point for the National Student Ombudsman and the Victorian Ombudsman.
