This is a unique opportunity to lead the transformation of Health & Safety systems and technology across a large, complex organisation. As Senior Health & Safety Manager - Systems, you will drive the strategic development of an ISO 45001-aligned Health & Safety Management System that enables smarter decision-making, stronger governance, and a seamless user experience across the University.
You’ll lead the creation of a single source of truth for all Health & Safety information, while simplifying frameworks, enhancing digital capability, and embedding data-driven insights into operational practice. Working closely with stakeholders across Health & Safety, Estates & Contractors, and Health & Wellbeing, your leadership will help strengthen organisational performance, improve risk visibility, and support a culture of continuous improvement.
This role also provides the opportunity to lead innovation initiatives, explore emerging technologies, and mentor a high-performing team that is passionate about delivering meaningful impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the University’s ISO-aligned Health & Safety Management System
- Oversee Health & Safety data architecture, reporting, dashboards, system configuration, and governance processes
- Drive digital transformation initiatives and optimise integrated Health & Safety technology solutions
- Simplify and redesign Health & Safety systems to improve usability, accessibility, and organisational adoption
- Manage governance frameworks for document control, system change management, and digital resource management
- Deliver strategic insights, reporting, and recommendations to executive leaders and governance committees
- Identify emerging trends, risks, and opportunities through advanced analytics and performance reporting
- Lead stakeholder engagement and communication strategies that promote alignment and consistent Health & Safety messaging
- Explore and pilot emerging technologies including AI, wearables, and drones to enhance Health & Safety performance
- Lead, coach, and develop a collaborative and high-performing team culture
- Partner with Faculties and Divisions to ensure systems and tools meet diverse operational needs across the organisation
Who You Are
You are a strategic systems thinker and experienced Health & Safety leader who thrives on driving transformation through data, technology, and continuous improvement. You bring a strong understanding of governance, systems design, and stakeholder engagement, combined with a passion for creating practical and user-friendly solutions.
You bring:
- Extensive experience leading Health & Safety systems, data, reporting, and governance functions
- Strong expertise in ISO-aligned Health & Safety Management Systems and system simplification initiatives
- Proven capability in data architecture, analytics, KPI development, and executive reporting
- Experience configuring and optimising digital systems and user-focused technology solutions
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence across complex environments
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability with a data-driven mindset
- Demonstrated leadership experience with a focus on coaching, collaboration, and capability uplift
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and strategic initiatives
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent professional experience in Health & Safety, systems, or a related discipline
