Your Role on the Team
Position Summary:
The Emergency Department Nursing Assistant is responsible for performing a broad range of duties supporting the patient care in the Emergency Department to help facilitate patient flow, including but not limited to: assisting with patient triage; obtaining vital signs and specimens; assisting the physician with the application and removal of casts, splints and wound care; providing support to physicians during patient exams; assisting patients with hygiene, elimination and comfort measures; and preparing patients for transport. Will ensure accurate inventory of equipment and supplies.
What It Takes to be Successful
Required Qualifications:
- Understanding of basic medical terminology
- Must be able to work variable shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Must be able to read, write and speak effectively in English
- Must be Certified Nurses Assist., Licensed Vocational Nurse, or enrolled in accredited nursing prog. with completion of at least 1 clinical semester.
- Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in a therapeutic way
- Demonstrated patient care experience, preferably in an acute care setting
