About the role
The University of New England (UNE) is seeking a dedicated and experienced academic leader to join the School of Rural Medicine as part of the Joint Medical Program (JMP), a collaboration with the University of Newcastle (UON). This senior role is instrumental in developing and implementing curriculum content, ensuring consistency in program delivery, and fostering strong relationships between partner institutions and healthcare organisations. The role will constitute a co-ordinator role for a single year group within the JMP, working closely with the counterpart coordinator at UON. The role will be responsible for curriculum content, course delivery, assessment content, assessment delivery and student support across a single year group of the JMP.
This position works closely with academic and professional staff members and students, as well as liaising extensively with UNE and UON personnel, and staff from government and private health organisations and hospitals, to provide senior, high quality management and academic support to the JMP.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A significant contribution to the development and coordination of teaching and related activities within medicine and/or health fields;
- An established record of achievement in teaching with a positive trajectory or consistently strong teaching evaluations, positive student feedback, student performance and/or peer review;
- Course Coordination or equivalent health service leadership;
- Proactive development and design of curricula and assessment within medicine or health;
- Involvement in reflection, review and continuous improvement of curricula, teaching resources and teaching approaches;
- Application to teaching practice of new ideas in the discipline of medicine and/or health; and
- An active role within the discipline in mentoring and fostering the development of teaching skills and scholarship within teaching staff in the field of medicine and/or health.
- Extensive experience as a clinician in a medicine or health discipline in the Australian healthcare context
