About This Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and innovative educator to play a leading role in shaping high-impact online biostatistics education at one of Australia’s most respected universities. As a Senior Lecturer, you will design, deliver, and continuously evolve engaging digital learning experiences that build statistical confidence and capability for students tackling complex public health challenges.
Embedded within the School of Public Health, you will teach biostatistics across the Master of Biostatistics, Master of Public Health, and Bachelor of Health Sciences programs, including contributing to the nationally significant Biostatistics Collaboration of Australia.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Teaching: Design, coordinate, and deliver engaging online biostatistics courses, translating complex concepts into applied, accessible learning experiences for diverse student cohorts.
- Curriculum leadership: Take ownership of course and assessment design, contributing to program-level curriculum development and continuous improvement in online pedagogy.
- Educational impact: Champion contemporary, inclusive teaching practices that strengthen student engagement and confidence, and positively influence the teaching practice of peers.
- Citizenship and service: Contribute to a vibrant academic culture through collaboration, mentoring, and service that advances teaching excellence within the School and University.
This is a teaching focused position.
About You
You are a confident and enthusiastic educator with strong disciplinary grounding in biostatistics and a genuine motivation to create meaningful learning experiences.
You will bring:
- A PhD or equivalent qualification in Biostatistics, Statistics, or a closely related discipline, with strong foundational training in biostatistics.
- A demonstrated track record of effective teaching or a clear passion and capability for delivering high-quality, student-centred online learning.
- Experience teaching quantitative or biostatistics content at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level, with course coordination or significant teaching responsibility highly regarded.
- The ability to communicate complex statistical ideas clearly and creatively, supporting students from varied academic and professional backgrounds.
- Evidence of curriculum design, assessment development, or digital learning innovation that enhances student engagement and outcomes.
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to take ownership of courses while working collaboratively with colleagues.
- Alignment with UQ values and a commitment to equity, inclusion, and respectful engagement in teaching and service.
