As a Senior Lecturer in Counselling, you will play a central role in shaping curriculum, advancing research priorities, and strengthening partnerships with industry and community. You will:

  • lead excellence in teaching and curriculum innovation, designing engaging, contemporary learning experiences that connect theory with real-world counselling practice;
  • drive impactful research, contributing to publications, securing funding, and supervising honours and HDR candidates to successful completion; and
  • strengthen industry and community engagement, building partnerships that enhance student opportunities, professional relevance, and social impact.

About you

You are an accomplished academic with an established track record in counselling education and research, recognised for the quality and impact of your contributions. You demonstrate a strong commitment to high-quality, inclusive teaching and to the academic and professional development of students, alongside a clear capacity to contribute to the advancement of your discipline.

You bring demonstrated academic leadership and a collegial approach, contributing effectively to governance, supporting the development of colleagues, and fostering a positive, high-performing academic environment characterised by integrity, collaboration, and scholarly excellence.

You Will Possess

  • A completed doctoral qualification in counselling or a closely related field (or equivalent standing);
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching, including curriculum design, delivery, and leadership in learning and teaching practice;
  • A strong and sustained research track record, including quality publications, grant activity, and HDR supervision;
  • Proven leadership and contribution to academic administration, such as program coordination or course leadership;
  • Established connections with professional bodies, industry, and community networks; and
  • A collaborative, values-driven approach that contributes to a supportive and high-achieving academic environment.

Desirable

  • Recognition for excellence in teaching and/or research;
  • Successful supervision of HDR candidates to completion;
  • Experience in program review, accreditation, or strategic academic initiatives;
  • Postgraduate qualifications in higher education.
