About the opportunity
Southern Cross University’s Faculty of Education is seeking a Senior Lecturer in Education to contribute to student-centred teaching and the development of the Professional Experience program, while advancing the Faculty’s research and engagement profile. Working within a dynamic and research-active Faculty committed to transformative educational change, the role supports high-quality teacher education across diverse programs and research concentrations. Your core responsibilities will include:
- Deliver high-quality, student-centred teaching and lead curriculum development across undergraduate and postgraduate education programs, including flexible and online learning modalities
- Provide academic leadership in teaching and the scholarship of teaching, contributing to innovative practices and mentoring early-career academics in effective learning design
- Undertake and lead impactful research aligned with the Faculty’s priorities, including securing research funding, publishing in quality journals, and supervising Honours and HDR students
- Engage in collaborative service and leadership within the Faculty and broader University, including course coordination, governance participation, and professional development initiatives
- Contribute to the University’s community and industry engagement through professional partnerships, outreach, and activities that enhance the Faculty’s visibility and impact.
About you
You will be a student-focused academic who leads high-quality teaching, contributes to impactful research, and actively engages with community and professional partners to advance educational practice and outcomes. More specifically, you will have:
- A PhD or Professional Doctorate in Education or related field, and an appropriate teaching qualification in secondary education, and relevant state or territory teacher registration in Australia
- Demonstrate experience in initial teacher education, particularly in professional experience, work integrated learning, and leadership in curriculum design and evaluation
- Proven ability to design, implement and assess innovative university-level curricula and teaching resources that enhance student learning and engagement
- A strong research track record, including competitive grant success, HDR supervision, and publications in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals
- Active engagement in professional, community or sector collaborations, including placement partnerships, staff development, and relevant professional or research networks
Salary and benefits
Our staff benefit from flexible work arrangements, including hybrid work models, generous parental and carer’s leave provisions, wellbeing initiatives, employee assistance programs and professional learning opportunities. This position is:
- Full-time, continuing (permanent)
- Located at either Coffs Harbour, NSW 2450, Gold Coast, QLD 4225, or Lismore, NSW 2480. Generous relocation support available.
- Academic Level C. The base salary ranges from $134,848 - $155,046 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $181,403.
