Why Your Role Matters

The School of Education is seeking a Senior Lecturer (Level C) in Educational, Developmental or Instructional Psychology, or a closely related discipline, to contribute to high quality teaching, impactful research, and academic leadership across undergraduate and postgraduate programs.

This role will support educational excellence through innovative teaching practices, curriculum development, and student supervision, while also building a nationally recognised research profile through high-impact publications, competitive grant success, and collaboration with industry and professional networks.

The role reports to the Professor and Head of School of Education and has no direct reports.

Responsibilities Summary

  • Deliver high-quality teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate courses using engaging and inclusive pedagogical approaches.
  • Design, develop and assess learning activities and resources across courses and programs.
  • Support positive student learning and employability outcomes through individual and cohort-based guidance.
  • Manage course administration and academic quality assurance as Course Authority.
  • Contribute to curriculum innovation and internal education initiatives and funding opportunities.
  • Build and maintain professional and industry links to support teaching, research and engagement outcomes.
  • Contribute to School and Faculty committees, seminars and collegial activities.
  • Conduct independent, high-impact research and build a nationally recognised research profile.
  • Publish research in high-impact peer-reviewed scholarly journals.
  • Develop research collaborations and contribute to competitive grant applications and funded projects.
  • Supervise HDR students to timely completion and mentor students and colleagues.

Skills and Experience Summary

  • A PhD in Educational/Developmental/Instructional Psychology or closely related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in advanced quantitative research methods.
  • Established track record of high-quality research published in high-impact peer-reviewed journals.
  • Evidence of research leadership capability and commitment to ongoing research excellence.
  • Proven commitment to maintaining current discipline knowledge and developments.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design, development and delivery across undergraduate and/or postgraduate programs.
  • Experience using educational technologies and online delivery methods.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness and commitment to educational excellence and curriculum innovation.
  • Demonstrated experience with industry engagement or work-integrated learning.
  • Ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and contribute to equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives.
  • Experience supervising high-calibre students and HDR candidates.
  • Strong collaboration, interpersonal and organisational skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across disciplines and industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with the profession and industry and attract funding for learning and teaching initiatives.
