Senior Lecturer in Geography
Department of Human Geography
Human Geography is about the relations between people and places. The subject is rooted in theoretical frameworks in human geography and the social sciences. Development studies focus on global inequity and development challenges particularly in the Global south. The Department of Human Geography has a broad social geography profile, and teaching takes place in the main subject areas of Human Geography, Urban and Regional Planning, Global Development and Geography.
Main Responsibilities
The duties consist of teaching, research and administration, as well as monitoring and contributing to developments in the field of Global Development from both a research and teaching perspective. Teaching will primarily take place in the programmes in Global Development, but teaching will also be undertaken in the programmes in human geography, urban and regional planning, and geography at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Teaching at undergraduate level is conducted in Swedish, whilst teaching at postgraduate level is conducted in English. During the first two years, teaching duties are expected to amount to at least 50%.
Qualification Requirements
To be eligible for appointment as a senior lecturer, the applicant must have obtained a doctoral degree in Human Geography or possess equivalent academic qualifications and have demonstrated teaching expertise. A requirement is to have teaching and research experience within the subject area Global Development. The applicant must have the ability to cooperate with colleagues as well as other abilities that are required in order successfully to meet the demands of the position. To be able to perform the duties of the position, the applicant must have a documented ability to use Swedish in speech and writing at a professional level.
