Salary

  • Senior Lecturer: £59,966 – £67,468 per annum
  • Associate Professor: £69,488 – £73,710 per annum
    *(Salary dependent on experience)*

The Role

We seek to appoint an outstanding academic in Cognitive Neuroscience to join a vibrant, research-intensive environment in the newly created School of Psychology and Neuroscience (name TBC).

The successful candidate will have an excellent track record of high-quality publications and grant capture, alongside experience of teaching in higher education. You will contribute to the development of a strong research culture and deliver high-quality teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

Hybrid Working

Teaching is delivered in person and on campus, and you will be expected to attend campus for all student-facing activities. Typically, staff are on campus around three days per week, although this varies. A minimum of one day per week on campus is normally expected.

What Will You Be Doing?

You will:

  • Publish high-quality research in leading international journals
  • Submit competitive grant applications to develop and sustain your research programme
  • Build and support a research team, including postgraduate researchers and research staff
  • Contribute positively to the research culture of the School and the University
  • Maximise the impact of your research through engagement with external partners

Teaching responsibilities will include:

  • Teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes
  • Developing and organising teaching units
  • Designing, setting, and marking assessments
  • Supervising student research projects and acting as a personal tutor

You will also undertake a school-level administrative role appropriate to your pathway and career stage and contribute constructively to the wider academic community.

You Should Apply If

You:

  • Are committed to the highest academic standards
  • Practice culturally inclusive teaching and are committed to open science and best pedagogical practice
  • Have a strong record of publication in international journals
  • Have experience of securing research funding
  • Have experience supervising students and colleagues
  • Have experience of designing, delivering, and organising teaching and assessment
  • Are able to develop and sustain an independent research team
  • Can work both independently and collaboratively with academic and professional staff
