The Faculty of Biology and Medicine (FBM) of the University of Lausanne is inviting applications for position of: Senior lecturer (MER1) in the field of exercise biochemistry at the Institute of Sport Sciences. Starting date: February 1st, 2026. Place: Lausanne, Switzerland. Contract length: 6 years, renewable. Rate: 100%. The Institute of Sports Sciences (ISSUL-FBM) is the main center of UNIL for teaching and research in the interdisciplinary field of sports sciences. It brings together experts in human and social sciences (history, psychology, management, economics, sociology) and life sciences (physiology, biomechanics, sports medicine) in the Olympic capital. Main tasks: Conduct, in the field of exercise biochemistry independent and innovative research, both fundamental and translational to humans, funded through peer-reviewed grants and published in peer-reviewed international journals. Contribute to the educational and knowledge dissemination mission of ISSUL and UNIL, and also supervise/mentor master’s students and PhD candidates (see job description). Coordinate research activities with those developed at ISSUL, the Interdisciplinary Center for Research on Sport (CIRS), and other groups within the Faculty (e.g., the Department of Biomedical Sciences). Participate to the scientific and academic life of the Institute and the Faculty, and promote the visibility of UNIL, FBM, and ISSUL at the regional, national, and international levels, in particular by helping to organize and actively participating in conferences. Desired profile: PhD in biomedical sciences, sport sciences with specialization / experience in exercise biochemistry or equivalent qualification. Postdoctorate desired in molecular biology and/or sports sciences, or equivalent. Solid background on the molecular mechanisms of skeletal muscle adaptations to exercise and pathology including muscle diseases (animal model, cell culture, calcium signaling, etc.), attested by high-level publications. Confirmed practice in teaching exercise biochemistry. Previous experience in (co)supervising master's (possibily doctoral) thesis. Ability to obtain funding. Ability to supervise animal experiments (module 2 RESAL or equivalent training). Preference will be given to a personality open to communication and cooperation. Excellent knowledge of English and French (LM or minimum B2, C1 ideal) or ability to acquire it rapidly.
