About the Role:

The School of Education sits within the Faculty of Arts, Humanities, Education and Social Sciences. We are a growing School with a diverse course portfolio. At Postgraduate level these include MA Education and PGCE, as well as doctoral level studies. Our Undergraduate provision includes Working with Children, Families and Communities, Early Childhood Studies and Primary Education Studies. Following our successful accreditation from the Department of Education, we have developed the first new BEd (Hons) Primary Education with QTS in the sector for 30 years.

We are looking to recruit a Senior Lecturer Practitioner to our Initial Teacher Training team to start in September 2026. As a Senior Lecturer Practitioner, you will be an experienced school-based practitioner. You will have a degree or relevant professional qualification as well as QTS. You will bring current experience in primary schools, experience of mentoring trainees or ECTs, a passion for training the next generation of teachers in the Eastern region and a commitment to maintaining your own currency of practice to inform course and module development.

In this role you will teach on the new BEd Primary Education with QTS course on our Cambridge campus, upskill as a Lead Mentor under the new requirements for ITT and support school-based training for trainees. This is a great opportunity to be part of an exciting and busy ITT offer.

Please note that this is a part time role, working Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

Informal enquiries can be made to Rachel Minett, Lead for ITT in Cambridge, at rachel.minett@aru.ac.uk.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting welfare of our staff and students and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants should be aware that ARU will carry out online searches as part of the due diligence on short listed candidates.

Committed to being inclusive and open to discuss flexible working.
