General Description/Primary Purpose
Under the supervision of the Manager of Access Services, this position supports the Course Reserves and A/V Equipment Reserves operation of the library by assisting in processing materials for students, faculty, and staff. This position supervises the Access Services Information Desk of the UNF Library.
Job Function
- Staffing the Access Services Information Desk may include responsibility for the supervision of the library facility.
- Provides customer service based on University, Library, and departmental policies and procedures, library systems and their use, and library collections.
- Access to and maintenance of confidential student/employment records is required.
- Troubleshoots procedural and system-related problems on behalf of library users.
- Responsible for monitoring the library’s security system and other security and safety matters involving the library building, collections, computers as well as operational concerns and closing the facility as scheduled.
- Maintain the knowledge and skills necessary to implement current department and Library-related policies and procedures.
- Provides public service and access with respect to library materials and information in a courteous, positive, and proactive manner.
- Regularly interacts and must communicate with UNF faculty, staff and student users.
- Staffs the library during weekend service hours, when support and staffing are extremely limited.
- Processes course reserve requests for library- and faculty-owned materials; retrieves, adds, and removes reserve materials; notifies faculty upon completion; and ensures compliance with copyright, library, and university policies.
- Manages requests for library-owned audiovisual equipment by students, faculty, and staff; prepares equipment for checkout; maintains accurate availability and holdings records; communicates availability to requestors; and ensures compliance with applicable policies and procedures.
- Responds to departmental and patron inquiries; processes applications for library privileges; manages hold and recall transactions; and handles the receipt and return of library materials.
- Circulates library collections, including course reserves, interlibrary loan, and UBorrow materials, using established policies and workflows.
- Provides bibliographic assistance, directional support, and library and campus referrals to users.
- Assists in training and supervising student assistants; assists with stack maintenance; and instructs patrons in the use of library equipment and technologies.
- Works on special projects as assigned.
Marginal Functions
- Participates in library-sponsored events.
- During declared campus emergencies, may be required to perform specific job-related duties at a designated off campus location or place of residence.
Required QualificationsHigh school diploma and 4+ years of relevant experience. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219.
