  • Base salary will be in the range $135,300- $143,081+ 17% Superannuation (HEW Level 9)

You will work closely with senior leaders, academics, and external partners, providing high-level strategic advice that enables UQ researchers to thrive in an increasingly competitive funding landscape.

In this role, you’ll be part of a dynamic and vibrant Research Office team, where your expertise, creativity, and leadership will directly contribute to advancing UQ’s research strategy. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Drive major research initiatives by developing and implementing strategies that position UQ’s interdisciplinary research for success in securing large-scale funding.
  • Foster collaboration and partnerships across faculties, institutes, and external stakeholders to build innovative research programs aligned with UQ’s strategic priorities.
  • Provide expert strategic advice on research funding pathways, emerging opportunities, and funding body priorities to senior leaders and researchers.
  • Build research capability by leading workshops, consultations, and training programs that enable researchers and staff to position for national and international funding opportunities.

About You

  • A postgraduate qualification (or equivalent experience) combined with extensive expertise in research, research management, or a related field.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Australian higher education and research funding landscape, with an informed view of international opportunities.
  • Proven ability to foster collaboration, build innovative research teams, and connect people to create impactful partnerships.
  • Strong strategic and analytical thinking skills, with a track record of turning complex ideas into practical initiatives and outcomes.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence in influencing, negotiating, and building trust across diverse stakeholders.
  • Resilience, creativity, and initiative, with the flexibility to thrive in dynamic environments both independently and as part of a team.

The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including right to work in Australia, criminal check and an education check.
