The position requires the daily performance of complex chemical, biological and animal tissue preparation in the setting of a basic science research lab. In addition, the position will work with mice, conduct experiments, and record the experimental results in the lab. The position will develop and evaluate new techniques and procedures and functions independently on small less complex projects and coordinate and/or supervise activities of support staff.

Responsibilities

The duties include, but are not limited to:

• Cell culture -growing cells and treating for immunoassay analysis.
• Western Blotting - PCR in tissue cells for DNA/RNA extraction.
• Animal handling and surgeries for diabetic mice.
• Molecular biology techniques in live animal imaging using OCT and ERG.
• Animal ordering and maintenance of inventory, protocols, SOP.
• Microscopy (fluorescence and confocal) - staining various markers.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in research, basic science or a clinical setting particularly clinical trials research and minimum of two years of applicable experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Western Blotting.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

KNOWLEDGE

Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.

SKILLS

Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Detail-oriented with strong multi-tasking, prioritization, and organizational skills.

ABILITIES

Ability to maintain confidentiality. Willingness and ability to work with research animals.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required)

Pay Band: 6

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
