Position Highlights
The Research Coordinator is responsible for ensuring all information collected for the study is on time, complete, and accurate. The Research Coordinator must have experience with surveys, anthropometric measures, and qualitative data collection. Must be familiar with REDCap database to be able to enter and ensure the quality of data. The Research Coordinator must be familiar with human subjects protections, including Tribal Sovereignty, privacy, and confidentiality. Must participate in project activities, including outreach to youth, parents, school personnel, and Tribal communities.
This position involves travel primarily to the Navajo Nation within the state. Travel includes overnight stays, sometimes for 3-5 days at a time. Position may occasionally require working on weekends and in the evenings. A Driver's license is needed to commute to study sites throughout the state.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensures all study-related data collection materials, methods, and approaches are consistent and well-documented.
- Arranges for data collection with partners and ensures data collection is on time, complete, and accurate.
- Collects data at the study schools on the Navajo Nation, including surveys and anthropometric measures.
- Able to lift, carry, set up, and store 15-20 pounds of project materials such as wagons, plastic bins, and data collection equipment.
- Uses several applications to enter and store data.
- Ensures the quality of the data, and stores data in REDCap, UA Box, and UA Box Health.
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with human subjects' protections, including Tribal Sovereignty, data sovereignty, privacy and confidentiality.
- Keeps human research protocol current in the UA system.
- Create a health promotion curriculum, including lesson design with rationale, activities, sequencing, and training.
- Read, understand, and apply relevant literature, the Arizona Department of Education Standards, and the Department of Dine Education Standards to adapt the curriculum for the project.
- Participates in research team meeting, take minutes, report writing, manuscript development, and grant writing.
- Serves as a lead role in the administration of project activities, including outreach to youth and families, with the ability to think ahead and plan over a three to six-month time span.
- Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with a wide range of individuals and organizations at multiple levels.
- Travel within the state and the Navajo Nation, which could include some evening, overnight, and/or weekend travel, and overnight stays for several days.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of research data collection methods and quality assurance procedures.
- Ability to coordinate and lead project activities.
- Knowledge of Tribal communities.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally.
- Knowledge of health promotion and prevention program development.
- Ability to ensure compliance with human subjects' protections.
- Skill in data management, interpretation, and research reporting.
- Ability to work with children, parents, and school personnel.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in public health, education, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in public health, education, or related field.
- Prior experience working with youth and Tribal communities.
