Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Senior Research Fellow (Data Manager) to join Te Tātai Hauora o Hine - National Centre for Women’s Health Research Aotearoa on a 22-month fixed-term, part-time contract.
The Senior Research Fellow (Data Manager) will support the delivery of an ongoing large, high-impact platform of kaupapa Māori health research, involving managing quantitative data in relation to specific research projects.
Key responsibilities:
- Be responsible for managing large data sets and data-linking with national data sets.
- Lead quantitative data management to establish and maintain best-practice processes.
- Perform relevant analysis using a variety of programmes including, but not limited to, Stata, REDcap.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of Māori data governance and sovereignty principles and other data-related initiatives to ensure culturally appropriate and responsible data handling.
- Contribute to, and support the Centre's vision, mission, and strategic goals.

You will be a motivated individual with the relevant skills who can take the initiative, have excellent time management and can work independently but also collaborate as a team member.
Key requirements:
- A PhD in a relevant field (e.g. epidemiology, biostatistics, public health).
- Experience with data management and large datasets that require significant skill and independence.
- Understanding of Māori data governance and sovereignty principles.
- Excellent attention to detail and an understanding of importance of quantitative data integrity, demonstrated by experience delivering high quality research.
