About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Safety Coordinator (Trades and Operations).
Swinburne University of Technology trains thousands of apprentices and trainees each year across a diverse range of trades and disciplines. This role is central to ensuring vocational education is delivered safely, compliantly and efficiently, bringing together regulatory compliance, asset governance and operational practice. Acting as a trusted advisor, the role leads the development and ongoing management of systems and frameworks that ensure compliance with the Guidelines about Apprenticeship (Vic), RTO Standards 2025 and relevant health and safety legislation.
Reporting to the Manager, Compliance and Support, the role provides strategic oversight of compliance and asset management, ensuring the safe, consistent use of industry-standard equipment, plant and facilities. Working closely with teachers, managers, the TET Director, and Health and Safety and Facilities teams, the role takes a proactive, data-informed approach to risk management and continuous improvement—supporting the safe, sustainable and future-ready delivery of trade education.

- Tech-savvy skills – you’re comfortable with Microsoft Office and especially Excel, using it to keep data clear and organised.
- Industry know-how – you understand the VET sector and the compliance frameworks that keep everything on track.
Qualifications
- Completion of a relevant degree without subsequent relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
