Job Description:
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Senior Special Programs Coordinator leads the planning, implementation, and oversight of activities supporting the federal Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act (Perkins V) Postsecondary Allocation Grant, funded by Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). This role ensures compliance with federal and state grant requirements while advancing strategic priorities that strengthen Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs at CCCC.
The Coordinator provides direct academic and career coaching to CTE students, with emphasis on special populations and secondary-to-postsecondary pathways. Working in partnership with Academic Affairs, Institutional Research, and the Grants Office, the Coordinator supports program improvement and coordinates Perkins-funded equipment and resource investments aligned with current industry needs.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Perkins V Grant Administration
- Plan, prepare, and submit the annual Perkins V grant application and required performance reports.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations governing Perkins V funding.
- Monitor Perkins budgets and expenditures to ensure appropriate use of grant funds.
- Prepare program documentation and materials required for audits, reviews, and state reporting.
- Serve as the primary institutional liaison to MA DESE on Perkins grant activities, coordinating with internal stakeholders to meet all state and federal reporting requirements.
Career and Technical Education Program Support
- Partner with Academic Affairs, Division Deans, and CTE program faculty to set priorities for Perkins-funded initiatives, aligned with Perkins V performance indicators.
- Provide academic and career coaching to CTE students, with a focus on Perkins-defined special populations (e.g., single parents, individuals with disabilities, economically disadvantaged students, English learners) enrolled in high-demand career programs.
- Design and implement targeted activities that help prepare special population CTE students for high-skill, high-wage or in-demand occupations to close achievement gaps.
- Partner with Admissions and Enrollment Management to support secondary-to-postsecondary transition activities, including the Pathways Program, high school outreach, and dual enrollment opportunities, facilitating successful entry into CTE programs of study.
- Collaborate with Career Services to deliver structured career exploration and planning activities that support CTE students in making informed decisions about programs of study and career pathways.
Industry and Work-Based Learning Coordination
- Collaborate with CTE faculty, program coordinators, and advisory boards to identify equipment and instructional supply needs that reflect current industry trends and are eligible for Perkins V funding support.
- Participate as a member of CTE program advisory boards to support the integration of academic and technical education and ensure alignment with current industry standards and workforce needs.
- Collaborate with secondary school partners and regional stakeholders to strengthen CTE pathways and articulation agreements.
- Coordinate and support delivery of high-quality professional development opportunities for CTE faculty and staff to strengthen program quality and student outcomes.
Program Planning, Data, and Continuous Improvement
- Lead the development and submission of the Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment (CLNA) in collaboration with the Grants Office, Institutional Research, and CTE program coordinators, using findings to inform Perkins-funded program improvement priorities.
- Partner with Institutional Research to collect, analyze, and report data on CTE programs and Perkins V performance indicators, supporting data-driven program evaluation and continuous improvement.
- Coordinate procurement of Perkins V-funded equipment and instructional supplies, ensuring alignment with CLNA-identified program improvement priorities and approved grant budgets.
Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree in Education, Counseling, Higher Education Administration, Public Administration, or a closely related field with three (3) years of experience in program coordination, grant administration, or project management; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing grants, budgets, or program reporting.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, administrators, and external partners.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and technology skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to working with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
- Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working with Career and Technical Education programs.
- Experience managing state or federal grants in higher education.
- Experience working with institutional data and program evaluation.
- Experience coordinating equipment procurement or program resources
- Bilingual ability.

Additional Information:
COMPENSATION: Full-time, MCCC Unit Position; Grade 5 - Senior Special Programs Coordinator with an anticipated annual salary range of $72,265- $83,122. Actual salary will be consistent with the MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Includes participation in a comprehensive employee benefits program including option for membership in the Massachusetts State Employees' Retirement System. 100% funded through the Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act (Perkins V) Postsecondary Allocation Grant. Appointment is contingent upon continued grant funding.
