"Shantou University Medical College Invites Applications for Overseas Excellent Youth Science Fund"

The Excellent Youth Science Fund Project (Overseas) aims to attract and encourage outstanding young scholars overseas who have achieved notable accomplishments in natural sciences, engineering, and related fields to return to or come to China for work. It allows them to independently select research directions for innovative studies, promoting the rapid growth of young scientific and technological talents.

Applicant Criteria

• Comply with the laws and regulations of the People's Republic of China, uphold strong scientific ethics, and actively embody the spirit of modern scientists.
• Hold a doctoral degree.
• The primary research fields are natural sciences, engineering technology, etc.
• After obtaining a doctoral degree and by September 15, 2025, applicants should generally have held a formal teaching or research position at a reputable overseas university, research institution, or corporate R&D institution for a continuous period of 36 months or more.
• Achieve research or technological accomplishments recognized by peer experts and demonstrate potential to become academic leaders or outstanding talents in the field.
• The applicant has not yet started full-time work in China or will start on or after January 1, 2024. Upon receiving the notification of funding, the applicant must resign from overseas employment and work full-time in China for no less than three years.

Benefits and Supporting Measures

• Funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Guangdong provincial supporting fund.
• Supporting benefits from the Medical College include appointment as specially appointed professors with a competitive annual salary and additional research performance bonuses, adequate research start-up funds, research assistants, annual quota for one doctoral student, unlimited postdoctoral recruitment quotas, inclusion in management roster of public institutions, generous relocation allowances and living subsidies, recognition as high-level talents in Shantou, priority for talent funding projects, access to faculty apartments, and assistance with spouse employment and children's enrollment.
