Social Work Academic Positions
We are looking for two talented Social Work academics with innovative perspectives on teaching and research to join our expanding Social Work program at Edith Cowan University. The School of Arts and Humanities is strengthening its courses and research programs in Social Work, Youth Work, and applied Social Sciences. In 2025, we introduced a Master of Social Work, and in 2026, we will launch a refreshed Bachelor of Community and Human Services and a Masters in Leading Social Change.
This is an opportunity to shape new courses, contribute to research advancing social justice, and prepare future professionals. The level of appointment depends on your experience. Responsibilities include teaching units in Social Work, supporting field education, and potentially building a research program.
For a teaching-focused role, you will concentrate on teaching and pedagogy. For a teaching and research role, you will develop research, collaborate with units like the Program of Research in Migration, Diversity, and Care, and access funding.
Selection criteria require eligibility for Australian Association of Social Workers membership. For teaching and research roles, a PhD is needed; for teaching-focused, a Masters with equivalent experience. You must demonstrate effective teaching, industry engagement, innovations, and collegiality. Desirable experience includes field education, online learning, or international education.
Benefits include career development, flexible arrangements, and superannuation. Contact Professor Janine Joyce at j.joyce@ecu.edu.au for more information. Applications close on October 27, 2025.
