L’Université de technologie de Compiègne is recruiting a software R&D engineer for the Biomechanics and Bioengineering Laboratory (BMBI) within the Biological Engineering Department (GB).
This recruitment is part of the CHRONOS maturation project supported by SATT LUCTECH.
Mission
Your main mission will be to contribute to the software design of an innovative HD-sEMG signal measurement and processing prototype (high-density surface electromyography).
As a key player in the project, you will be involved in a complete process of creating technological "bricks": specifications, programming, characterization and experimental qualifications up to reliability tests in a real environment.
Activities
- Software development: design and code the software architecture (processing of complex signal data, communication between devices, development of the human-machine interface (HMI)).
- Test & Validation phase: design, plan and monitor the hardware/software test phases of the HD-sEMG acquisition device in a realistic environment.
- Data collection: actively participate in experimental measurement campaigns.
- Project management: follow up on deliverables in line with the requirements of the SATT Lutech and document developments.
- Technology watch: stay alert to scientific and technical developments in order to optimize the prototype.
Scientific background / project summary
Resulting from a collaboration between UTC, Sorbonne University and AP-HP, CHRONOS responds to a strong clinical challenge: to allow a simple, fast and accurate evaluation of muscle capacities thanks to HD-sEMG signals.
This innovation opens up new perspectives for the monitoring of functional recovery, the early detection of sarcopenia and the evaluation of performance in health and sports medicine.
SATT LUTECH is supporting this project by financing the development of a first prototype to accelerate its maturation and prepare for its transfer. This project follows several research projects funded by: EIT Health, Mécénat des mutuelles AXA, Fondation de l'Avenir, AP-HP, ANR France relance 2030, UTC, IUIS SU.

Skills/Qualifications
- Have a solid knowledge of computer science, instrumentation and electronics.
- Have a good command of the Python language or equivalent.
- Be sensitive to the requirements related to medical device developments.
- Be rigorous, methodical and have a strong analytical mind.
- Be curious, passionate about biomedical innovation, and show imagination and creativity in the face of technical challenges.
- Have a very good ability to work in a team within a multidisciplinary environment (researchers, clinicians, engineers).
Qualifications, training and accreditation
Diploma: Bac+5

Working environment and context
The recruited person will join the "C2MUST" research axis (Characterization and Personalized Modeling of the Neuro-MUSculoskeletal System) of the BMBI laboratory (UMR CNRS 7338).
The research activities of the BMBI laboratory concern Biomechanics and Bioengineering, more particularly Life Mechanics and Health Engineering. The laboratory is attached to the CNRS Engineering Institute.
The central objective of the BMBI laboratory's research project is to develop numerical and experimental models (in vitro or in vivo) of living organisms, capable of meeting the challenges of tomorrow's medicine, and of making them dialogue with the data collected (via models, on patients, etc.).
