Job Summary:
The Rollins College Information Technology Department is seeking a service and results-oriented Solutions Engineer to join their team! The IT Solutions Engineer plays a key role in advancing the college's digital transformation efforts by designing, developing, and supporting enterprise solutions that power critical campus operations. This position partners closely with functional stakeholders across campus to understand business requirements and drive process modernization across our technology ecosystem. This role blends functional and technical expertise, requiring a candidate who can build strong stakeholder relationships while delivering innovative, sustainable solutions.
Providing our Community with Outstanding Experiences
- Engage with the College community to understand its culture, values, and day‑to‑day realities, ensuring technology solutions support the holistic needs of our students, faculty, and staff.
- Partner with functional stakeholders (Registrar, Finance, HR, Financial Aid, etc.) to deliver innovative solutions, improve business processes, and drive digital transformation on campus - with specific focus on new ERP/SIS delivered features and functionality.
- Translate functional requirements into technical specifications and deliver features and services aligned with institutional priorities.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance during system upgrades, enhancements, and new feature releases for ERP/SIS and related applications.
Keeping our Technology Future Ready
Design scalable, secure, and sustainable enterprise solutions.
- Develop and maintain systems integrations including applications, APIs, file transfers, and queries.
- Develop and implement procedures for data security, management, and compliance.
- Serve as a technical expert in the design, development, coding, testing, debugging, and implementation of systems across the enterprise applications ecosystem.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices to ensure Rollins remains innovative and future‑ready.
Building a Sustainable Team and Support Model
Foster a culture of shared knowledge by documenting solutions and collaborating across teams to build a sustainable support model.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including business process maps, system architecture diagrams, integration mappings, data flows, configuration details, and support procedures.
- Maintain development standards and best practices, including version control, code review, testing strategies, and change management processes.
- Partner with Help Desk/IT Engagement and Experience to serve as tier 2/tier 3 support for certain applications.
- Ensure compliance with college data security and privacy policies (e.g., FERPA, HIPAA, GDPR, etc.)
- Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines and release management process across test and production environments.
Minimum Qualifications & Education:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or other related field.
- Experience with JavaScript and React.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Knowledge developing and configuring API's
- Experience in mapping, documenting, and improving business processes.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD processes, source control (e.g., Git), and DevOps tools.
- Familiarity with frontend technologies HTML and CSS.
- Working knowledge of relational databases such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, or PostgreSQL.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, specifically in explaining complex business processes and technical concepts.
- Skilled in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data; ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
- Ability to prioritize projects and meet deadlines.
Work Environment:
- Campus-based, hybrid position working in an office environment in Winter Park, FL.
- Work requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and visual strain working on a computer.
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as appropriate for business needs.
