General Requirements:
Associates Degree in related field. Three years related experience or experience in a related field. Certifications may be required. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties:
Performs specialist support duties for the department of Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD). Assists with front-desk coverage and proctoring and administration of accommodated exams during peak testing periods.
Primary Responsibilities (Staff Positions Only):
- Coordinates contracted, communication access services, including sign language interpreting and real-time (CART) captioning for the deaf and hard-of-hearing.
- Coordinates and oversees dedicated notetaker services provided by student workers.
- Coordinates contracted Braille services.
- Checks out adaptive aids to students and maintains an inventory of such items.
- Maintains an inventory of adaptive classroom furniture and places work orders for the movement and placement of same.
- Provides back-up assistance with alternative textbook and adaptive technology services.
- Assists with proctoring and administration of accommodated exams during peak testing periods on the Huntsville and satellite campuses.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
