The Bursar of the Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University appoints a selection procedure for the position
Specialist in Research, Development and Production of Recombinant Proteins
(16 hours per week)
The Faculty of Medicine at Masaryk University in Brno hosts the Central European Advanced Therapy and Immunotherapy Centre (CREATIC), established with the support of the Horizon Europe Teaming for Excellence programme in collaboration with Fraunhofer IZI, Leipzig University, and the University of Copenhagen (www.creatic.muni.cz).
The CREATIC Centre of Excellence was officially established in January 2024. Its mission is to support the development of the scientific careers of highly promising researchers with significant international experience.

The scope of your work will be:
- Design, development, and optimization of strategies for the expression of recombinant proteins and peptides.
- Development and optimization of cell culture methods and fermentation processes.
- Development and validation of methods for protein isolation, purification, and characterization.
- Design, execution, and evaluation of research and development experiments.
- Participation in the preparation of grant proposals, research reports, and scientific publications.
- Preparation and maintenance of cell cultures and production batches.
- Operation and monitoring of laboratory- and pilot-scale equipment for biomolecule production.
- Preparation of intermediates and final products for research, preclinical, or clinical applications.
- Optimization of production processes to improve yield, quality, and reproducibility.
- Monitoring production processes and troubleshooting technological issues.
- Performing analytical methods (HPLC, FPLC, LC-MS, SDS-PAGE, Western blot, ELISA, spectrophotometry, etc.).
- Assessment of the purity, identity, stability, and biological activity of proteins and peptides.
- Processing and evaluation of analytical data.
- Preparation and updating of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Preparation of documentation and materials for the validation and qualification of methods and equipment.
- Maintaining laboratory and production documentation in accordance with internal procedures and quality requirements.
- Compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and GMO safety principles.
- Participation in the implementation and maintenance of the quality management system.
- Collaboration with research teams, academic institutions, and industrial partners.
- Training new employees and students in relevant methods and technologies.
- Active participation in professional seminars, conferences, and training activities.
- Providing expert support to infrastructure users in the design and implementation of projects focused on recombinant proteins and peptides.
Required qualification:
- A completed university degree in Biochemistry or a related field.
- Experience in the preparation of recombinant biomolecules (transformation/cloning, expression, isolation, purification, and characterization).
- Experience in regulatory affairs, particularly medicinal product registration.
- Experience in pharmaceutical quality control (QC), including the validation and performance of analytical methods.
- Excellent command of the Czech language, both written and spoken.
- Good written English.
- Advantage: Professional qualification to work as a specialist in laboratory methods and in the preparation of medicinal products in accordance with Act No. 96/2004 Coll.

Type of contract: 1-year fixed-term contract, with the possibility of further extension
Job type: 0,4 FTE (16 hours per week)
Gross Salary: 50 000 – 58 000 CZK (for full-time employment – a proportional amount for part-time employment)
