Specialized Teaching Faculty I (Non-Tenure Track) Job ID 60398
The African American Studies Program at Florida State University invites applications for a permanent 9-month, non-tenure track Specialized Teaching Faculty I position, effective August 2026. We seek a dedicated educator with a passion for undergraduate teaching and a strong commitment to African American Studies as a field of inquiry and praxis.
The successful candidate will teach both lower and upper division undergraduate courses and contribute to the development of new and innovative offerings within the curriculum. We welcome applicants with a broad range of scholarly interests that center the Black experience. Preference will be given to candidates who can contribute courses in one or more of the following areas:
- African diaspora studies
- Social Relations
- History
- Research methods
- The criminal justice system
- Applied or community-based learning
In addition to teaching and mentoring undergraduates, the position entails meaningful service to the African American Studies Program, including participation in curriculum development, student engagement initiatives, and support for activities such as the Ankh Maat Wedjau Honor Society, AFA internship program, and community outreach efforts.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Completion of all Ph.D. requirements except the dissertation at the time of application
- Completion of Ph.D. by August 1, 2026
