- Part-time (20%), fixed-term position through to 31st December 2027.
- Base salary will be in the range $140,293 - $161,518 + 17% Superannuation (Academic Level C)
- Based at our Herston Campus
About This Opportunity
Step into a pivotal academic leadership role shaping the next generation of safe, confident prescribers at UQ. As the Specialty Lead for Clinical Pharmacology and Prescribing Skills Development, you will guide high-quality learning and assessment in the Year 4 MD curriculum, supporting students as they master core clinical pharmacology concepts and essential prescribing skills.
Working in partnership with discipline teams, the Academy for Medical Education and our three Clinical Schools, you will drive continuous improvement in learning outcomes, teaching practice, resources and assessment. Your leadership will also ensure UQ maximises the benefits of its involvement in the national Prescribing Skills Assessment, strengthening student preparedness and success.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a Teaching-Focused Senior Lecturer to expand their impact at program and discipline level and contribute to an innovative, student-centred MD program.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Teaching: Deliver and coordinate high-quality teaching across Clinical Pharmacology and Prescribing Skills Development modules, using effective pedagogies and technologies to engage and motivate students.
- Lead curriculum and assessment development, fostering continuous improvement, influencing peer teaching practices, and ensuring coherent student learning across programs.
- Build internal and external collaborations to disseminate educational innovations, maintain professional currency, and enhance the reputation of teaching excellence within the discipline and beyond.
- Citizenship and Service: Demonstrate leadership, collaboration, and commitment to UQ values through mentoring, service, and administrative responsibilities, while fostering external partnerships and engagement that enhance teaching, curriculum, and the reputation of educational excellence.

About You
- Medical qualification with eligibility for registration as a medical practitioner in Australia, and specialist qualification recognised by the Royal Australian College of Physicians, including advanced training in Clinical Pharmacology.
- Current or recent clinical practice in Australia with in-depth knowledge of local prescribing practices.
- PhD or equivalent, or a combination of professional and academic experience relevant to the field.
- Established profile in clinical teaching and/or clinical research, with evidence of substantial senior contributions at undergraduate, postgraduate, or professional levels.
- Expert discipline knowledge and specialist experience, including dissemination and adoption of innovative clinical knowledge or techniques.
- Track record of publications in refereed journals, conference presentations, and participation in curriculum/program development.
- Experience supporting trainees in specialty training programs and/or HDR students, and meaningful internal and external leadership roles fostering professional links.
- Recognised nationally/internationally for scholarly contributions and demonstrated leadership, including guiding others, major initiatives, and the beneficial application of knowledge.
The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including right to work in Australia, education check, AHPRA registration, mandatory immunisations.
