Sports Information Intern
The Washington & Jefferson College department of athletics offers paid internships to provide a hands-on learning experience with a NCAA Division III sports organization. The W&J athletic internship program is an excellent step toward a professional career in college athletics. The internship provides a monthly stipend, housing, and a meal stipend. A current opportunity is available in sports information/media relations. The program provides the opportunity to gain exposure in a highly-competitive NCAA Division III athletic department, while increasing marketability to a future employer. The intern will learn the rules and regulations with recruiting under the NCAA Division III umbrella. The intern will have the ability to be exposed to resume-building situations while applying hands-on sports communication learning. Opportunities to work with media relations equipment and technology offered by the college will also enhance the experience. In addition, the intern will have the opportunity to be exposed to the administrative side of the athletic department through experiences with game management, facility coordination and working with the college's coaching staff. The sports information director is the intern's primary supervisor. The intern will also be evaluated by the Director of Athletics. Stipend: $10,000 (10-month contract - August 1 thru May 31) Housing: On-campus apartment (2 interns per apartment); Utilities included with the exception of cable and internet Meal Stipend: $175 per month (10 months starting in August)
