Sr. Licensed Vocational Nurse

The Senior Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) provides high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in the Executive Health Practice ambulatory setting by applying the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care within the LVN scope of practice. Under the supervision of the LVN Supervisor, Director of Executive Health and Medical Director, and in accordance with Ambulatory Services policies and procedures, the LVN functions as a key member of the interdisciplinary care team.

The Senior LVN assesses and identifies individual patient needs through observation, review of disease symptoms, emotional status, laboratory data (as delegated), cultural and socio-economic factors, and patient response to prescribed medical regimens and treatments. Nursing care is individualized to meet each patient's physiological, psychological, and psychosocial developmental needs.

The Senior LVN is required to learn, apply, and consistently adhere to Executive Health Standards. In collaboration with physicians, registered nurses, patient care technicians, and senior administrative staff, the LVN provides clinical support services including delegated laboratory result review and monitoring, patient education, care coordination, and follow-up communication.

The Senior LVN serves as a clinical liaison for patients and families, ensuring timely, accurate, and compassionate communication throughout the care continuum. This role requires daily interaction via telephone, electronic messaging, written correspondence, and in-person encounters. The LVN utilizes strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills to support a concierge-level patient experience while maintaining clinical excellence and discretion.

The Senior LVN applies clinical expertise, coordination, and patient advocacy to assist patients and families in navigating the complexity of the healthcare system. Primary goals include optimizing clinical outcomes, enhancing patient satisfaction, and promoting a seamless Executive Health experience. The LVN actively identifies patient concerns, preferences, and care needs and facilitates access to appropriate services, resources, and amenities to support healing and satisfaction.

This position requires proficiency in UCSF clinical and administrative systems, including ApeX and other computerized applications, to document care, review clinical data, and support operational workflows. The LVN maintains current knowledge of Medical Center and Ambulatory Services policies and procedures related to infection control, safety, and administrative and clinical practice.

The Senior LVN adheres to UCSF Telephone and House Standards and consistently demonstrates UCSF PRIDE values and AIDET communication principles in all interactions with patients, families, providers, and stakeholders. The LVN consistently projects a professional, courteous, and service-oriented demeanor and maintains composure in high-pressure situations.

The Senior LVN must interact effectively with a diverse and highly visible patient population, including senior business leaders, major donors, elected officials, UCSF senior leadership, providers, and staff at all organizational levels. This role requires exceptional discretion, emotional intelligence, diplomacy, kindness, and compassion while managing urgent clinical needs, complex scheduling demands, and time-sensitive executive and patient priorities.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $48.47 - $60.72 (Hourly Rate).
