Job Description Summary / TWC Summary
Under general supervision, perform routine accounting functions such as preparing journal entries and balancing reports. May specialize in some phases of accounting work such as financial reporting. The accountant will manage, analyze, reconcile, and report on select University ledger accounts. The main requirements for this position include performing sub-ledger to general ledger reconciliations and monitoring controls around assigned processes. This position will analyze; post and control data entered in the Banner Finance. This position will provide required analysis and reporting for internal and external audits and will participate in process improvement efforts for the General Accounting Department.
Essential Duties Summary
- Performs monthly reconciliations for assigned accounts
- Reviews and updates financial records, including general ledgers, in database to ensure accurate maintenance, control, and reporting of revenues, expenditures, assets, and liabilities.
- Interprets and analyzes financial data and transactions.
- Participates in preparation of monthly and annual financial statements and accompanying schedules.
- Develop and documents accounting procedures, implemental system and procedural changes and promote best practices.
- Conducts research analyses and special projects.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education
Required:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from an accredited four-year college or university in Accounting, Finance, or other closely related field.
Required Licensing/Certification
None Required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Federal, State, Local, and County laws.
- Policies, procedures, and practices.
- Generally accepted accounting principles and procedures affecting the maintenance of accounting records and automated accounting systems.
- Banner and other job-related software systems.
- Microsoft Office Professional or similar application.
