The Staff Associate I will require regular interaction with Postdocs, full-time in-person work. Work will be given and experiments are expected to be done accurately and quickly. Results must be documented and shared with lab members. The Staff Associate I will be required to make decisions on what order to do things, what experiments make sense to do. Solo animal work will be required.

Functional Knowledge
+ The Staff Associate I will have knowledge of the research subject and will be maintaining animal work and other supporting experiments (molecular and cellular biology techniques) - 30%

Problem Solving
+ The Staff Associate I will utilize analytical skills to solve moderately complex problems to drive research aims forward - 30%

Decision Making/Autonomy
+ I will manage time wisely when planning and conducting experiments, adapting to needs of the project and work within guidelines to carry out assigned duties in the design of apparatus, the adaptation of relevant technology to the needs of a project - 10%

Technical Expertise
+ The Staff Associate I will maintain and operate tissue culture and basic techniques for data analysis and presentation (MS Office) - 20%

Communication
+ The Staff Associate I will share information and data with colleagues and supervisors. Strong organizational, good communication, interpersonal, and training skills for interacting with lab personnel - 10%

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a specific research field.

Other Requirements

  • Experience in the biological sciences through an advanced degree (bachelor’s degree with 4 years research or laboratory work experience or master’s level and 2 years of work experience preferred)
  • Mouse genotyping and tissue dissection, basic knowledge of cell culture.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, willingness to be flexible with work hours, occasionally
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written
  • Exceptional attention to detail and meticulous record keeping
  • Experience in staff training and transfer of knowledge
  • Ability to work independently and also to collaborate with leadership to implement novel techniques and methods and to support the overall impact and outreach of the core.
