Staff Associate II
The Staff Associate II will be responsible for supporting computational and statistical analysis of genetic data in studies of human traits and diseases. They will be responsible to maintain and optimize bioinformatics pipelines for genomic variants quality control, annotation, and prioritization, and to support the application of the pipelines in disease studies led by other lab members.
Functional Knowledge:
- Knowledge of bioinformatics pipelines, best practice for quality control of variants, annotation, and various concepts and methods for predicting effect of genetic variants.
Problem Solving:
- Analyze genetic data in studies of human diseases using state-of-the-art methods.
Decision Making/Autonomy:
- Explore new methods to improve annotation, variant interpretation and variant prioritization.
Technical Expertise:
- Develop and maintain expertise in variant interpretation, bioinformatics pipelines for analysis of rare variants, and scientific programming in python and R.
Communication:
- Be a point person to communication with clinical geneticists and PIs involved in collaborative projects on genetic studies of human diseases. Train and explain bioinformatics pipelines to new lab members.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in specific research field.
- 4 Years of experience recommended.
