Job Description Summary

This position will support funded research initiatives within the Pregnancy & Perinatal Research Center. The role provides statistical, analytical, and data management support for multi-center clinical trials, implementation trials, observational studies, and mixed-methods research projects under the supervision of the Director of Clinical Research Operations, PPRC physician leadership, and senior statistical and epidemiologic faculty.
The applicant will apply advanced programming and analytical skills to create and manage analytical datasets from diverse sources, including healthcare claims, clinical trials, observational cohorts, surveys, and electronic health records. Responsibilities include data cleaning, manipulation, standardization of outcome measures, and construction of analytic variables. The position conducts descriptive and advanced statistical analyses using SAS, R, SPSS, STATA or other appropriate software, including risk modeling and applications of statistical, machine learning, and artificial intelligence approaches.
Additional responsibilities include preparing graphs, tables, and analytic reports; interpreting and presenting findings; and supporting regulatory and sponsor reporting requirements (e.g., DSMB, NIH, ClinicalTrials.gov). The role assists with power calculations and drafting methods sections for grant proposals, manuscripts, and abstracts, and participates in literature review of biomedical and clinical research.
The biostatistician oversees data management activities using REDCap and Qualtrics, coordinates REDCap Users Group meetings, and serves as a technical resource for data capture platforms and statistical software. The position collaborates closely with research project managers to coordinate statistical activities and, as demands expand, contributes to the development of a more formal Data Management and Statistical Unit. Ongoing mentorship and methodological guidance are provided by PhD-level epidemiologists and MD epidemiologists to ensure rigorous and optimal analytic approaches.

Qualifications

  • Master of Science, Master of Arts, and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Candidates must have a strong record of collaborative research and contributions to grant writing, demonstrated ability to design and analyze randomized controlled trials and longitudinal observational studies, and excellent written and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience and expertise is required in categorical data analysis, longitudinal data analysis, and risk modeling using statistical and machine learning approaches.
  • Experience with supervising and managing clinical research projects is strongly preferred.
