LCC mathematics faculty teach 15 credits (3 sections) per quarter, advise students, and participate in shared governance. We strongly encourage members of historically marginalized groups, veterans, and bi- or multi-lingual individuals to apply for this position to help meet the needs of our diverse students and service district.

About the team:This position offers the chance to join a collaborative, innovative, and supportive team of faculty, staff, and administration. Our work environment is fast-paced, team-oriented, and adaptive with many opportunities for professional growth. The team is made up of seven full-time and four adjunct faculty.

The Faculty position is 173 contract days (fall, winter, spring) with an anticipated start of September 2026. The Statistics Faculty reports to the Dean of Instruction. Courses are delivered through multiple modalities including online, hybrid, and in-person. The salary range is $77,848 to $100,097 based on education and experience. Please note the salary amount within this posting is reflective of the 2025-26 salary amounts and does not include any legislatively funded COLA for the 2026-27 year. For applicants relocating to the LCC's service district, we are able to provide up to $5,000 in relocation funds in accordance with our travel policies.

Teaching:

  • Create a welcoming and supportive learning environment and use evidence-based practices to support the development of diverse students
  • Use relevant instructional technologies to enhance and support active learning in face to face, hybrid, and online modalities
  • Assess, evaluate, and document student learning and achievement of course outcomes, and provide feedback in ways that promote student growth and understanding
  • Provide individualized support to promote student success
  • Use data, self-reflection, professional development and feedback to revise your instruction, improve student success and better serve historically underrepresented and marginalized student populations.

Non-Teaching Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate within and outside the department to foster student success and innovation in pedagogy
  • Contribute to curricular reforms and program development
  • Provide academic advising to general transfer students
  • Maintain a presence on campus, including regular office hours, and be available for student consultation
  • Participate in ongoing program and college assessment and accreditation activities
  • Participate in professional development activities on- and off-campus to maintain currency in mathematics, pedagogy, and course materials

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Statistics or Mathematics or a Master’s Degree in a related field with a minimum of 30 graduate credits in mathematics/statistics from an accredited institution
  • Experience teaching in the first two years of collegiate Mathematics (such as algebra, precalculus, calculus, statistics, data science, linear algebra or differential equations) or relevant skills to do so effectively
  • Teaching philosophy that is student centered and focused on learning and demonstrated interest in teaching the diverse students at a community college
  • Demonstrated effectiveness as a member of a team
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate with faculty and staff, and to educate and inspire students from diverse backgrounds

Preferred Qualifications

  • Successful experience teaching introductory statistics or data science at the college level
  • Experience working in or partnering with K-12
  • Demonstrated success in a leadership or project management role (such as curriculum development)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of barriers for historically marginalized students or experience in addressing disproportionate impact and equity issues within an institution
  • Proficiency with a Learning Management System such as Canvas, Blackboard, MyOpenMath, or other similar platforms
  • Experience using simulations and real world data as teaching tools in statistics and/or data science courses
