Position Purpose
Strategic Analysts serve as a foundation for fundraising and alumni relations initiatives across Dartmouth, including the President’s Office and the professional schools, and are responsible for creating, managing, analyzing, and driving all prospect and donor data-mining efforts to help meet operating and capital fundraising goals, and extend institutional relationships.

Dartmouth Advancement is searching for two Prospect Research Analysts to join our Research and Prospect Management team in a role where you’ll be at the heart of driving innovative data-mining efforts that contribute to Dartmouth’s fundraising successes. An opportunity to sharpen your research and writing superpowers, you’ll drive prospect data-mining efforts, develop and manage prospect portfolios, manage prospect management reports, and develop strategy briefings that make a real impact. Your official title will be Strategic Analyst, which represents the important teamwork you will be sharing with gift officers to navigate the strategy and intricacies of the solicitation cycle. A key player on our mighty development team, you’ll work side-by-side with fundraisers, identify high-potential prospects and help develop smart strategies that bring our prospects to a yes.
Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp
Bachelors or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Three plus years’ experience in development or similar industry
- Proficiency in technology, including Microsoft Office, databases, and internet searches.
- Excellent research, problem solving, and analytical skills, including ability to analyze and interpret business and financial data and information
- High level of initiative and follow through with the ability to organize work, meet/negotiate deadlines, coordinate projects with others, and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong writing skills with the ability to compose concise, focused research documents with attention to accuracy and detail to support identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship processes
- Strong customer service, interpersonal, and negotiation skills with the ability to motivate and work effectively with groups and individuals
- Sound judgment, tact and discretion in handling confidential information
