Student Advisor - MBA and Business Degree Completion Programs
The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, is accepting applicants for a Student Advisor in the Baker School of Business. Under limited supervision, the Student Advisor will perform all aspects of academic advising and counseling for The Baker School of Business (BSB) online undergraduate and graduate MBA student population.
Job Responsibilities
- Providing student-centered advising to assist all students with a successful transition to The Citadel and timely degree completion.
- Proactively communicating with new students and advisees to support enrollment growth, retention, and degree progress.
- Proactively reviewing student records to identify barriers to student progress, share solutions, and accurately document student communications.
- Making student referrals to institutional resources and other offices as necessary.
- Reviewing transcripts for accurate award of transfer credit and notifying Registrar's Office of any concerns.
- Making presentations and participating in recruiting activities.
- Building courses in Banner consistent with approved rotation plans.
- Completing student attribute research, communication, service, and student experience projects, and other duties as assigned.
Opportunities may exist for well-qualified candidates to teach and/or work on projects related to the Corps of Cadets.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required. MS Office suite skills required. Knowledge of or experience with student development and education administration. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the general public. Must have excellent technology, problem solving, communication and organizational skills. Personal discretion, judgment, and self-direction are essential. Some after-hours work will be required in connection with special events.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree, ideally MBA, M.Ed. or M.A. in Counseling, preferred and can be substituted for experience. Two (2) years of experience in student advising or student services programs strongly preferred.
