About the opportunity

Join the team as the Student Affairs and Engagement Coordinator - Diversity and Inclusion supporting equity pathway and diverse student cohorts throughout their student journey. This is an exciting role within the Student Affairs and Engagement Team in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, where you will have the opportunity to design and deliver impactful programs that support student life, employability, and student success. Your work will be directly informed by student feedback and tailored to meet the unique needs of our equity student groups.

In this role, you will collaborate with staff and students to foster a sense of belonging, boost student success, and create greater opportunities for student involvement within the university community, all while aligning with our Faculty and University's strategic objectives.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • drive the impactful delivery of dynamic, evidence-based co-curricular and extracurricular programs, from welcome and mentoring to student life and employability initiatives, ensuring that all students are equipped and empowered for long-term success throughout their university journey;
  • support students through equity, inclusion, and engagement initiatives, including developing programs, coordinating events, and implementing support pathways that help students thrive;
  • take the lead in providing expert project management, research, and operational support for an array of innovative initiatives including orientation to leadership support tailored specifically to meet the unique needs of equity groups, ensuring a seamless and enriching student experience;
  • shape the future of student engagement by making key decisions on the delivery of transformative activities that boost student experience, retention, wellbeing, progression, and career outcomes, in close collaboration with the Manager of Student Affairs and Engagement;
  • create compelling, data-driven semester reports that highlight the tangible impact and success of your programs, showcasing both quantitative and qualitative results to drive continuous improvement and celebrate achievements.

About you

  • Experience in a relevant field and designing and delivering programs and projects for large groups of students;
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, coordinating, and delivering student-focused events that foster belonging, and enhance the student experience, including planning, stakeholder coordination, promotion, and on the day delivery;
  • Demonstrated high level interpersonal skills with a strong focus on building meaningful connections with students, as well as liaising effectively with senior staff and external organisations to foster successful relationships in a client services environment;
  • Well-developed negotiation, conflict resolution, relationship building and influencing skills;
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to use initiative and exercise sound judgement
  • Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills, with a capacity to prepare high level correspondence, reports and staff communications in an accurate, effective, and sensitive manner;
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, taking initiative and exercising sound judgement in resolving matters that may arise as part of normal daily work;
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills, with demonstrated experience in managing processes and systems and be adaptive and responsive in a fast-paced organisation meeting agreed outcomes.
