About This Opportunity

We are seeking a motivated, energetic, and highly organised Student and Academic Administration Officer to join the School of Communication and Arts. In this role, you will deliver high-quality customer service by providing friendly, helpful, accurate, and informative advice to students, academic staff, and professional colleagues. Reporting to the Senior Student Administration Support Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the smooth operation of the team through the delivery of a wide range of administrative processes.

This position involves managing a diverse portfolio of administrative tasks, including day-to-day problem resolution and the maintenance of administrative systems. You will be responsible for ensuring accuracy and efficiency across all processes while contributing to a collaborative and service-focused team environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong organisational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proactive, solutions-focused approach, along with the capacity to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced setting. Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Deliver accurate, timely advice and support to students, staff, and stakeholders in line with University policies and legislation.
  • Process a wide range of student administration tasks including admissions, enrolments, progression, exams, and study abroad.
  • Support academic administration activities such as timetabling, course profiles, Blackboard updates, and grade processing.
  • Contribute to process improvement, data accuracy, and the maintenance of University systems, websites, and publications.
  • Provide general administrative and customer service support, including event participation, meeting support, and responding to enquiries.

About You

  • An undergraduate degree in a relevant area or an equivalent combination of experience and/or education/training.
  • A sound understanding of administrative processes relevant to student and academic administration, or the ability to rapidly gain such knowledge.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy in written, oral and interpersonal communication with demonstrated ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to exercise initiative and judgment and to work independently and collaboratively within the team and across other organisational units.
  • A strong orientation to the provision of a high level of customer service.
  • An empathy with and ability to communicate with students, including those from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of University student computer systems and packages or the ability to rapidly gain knowledge of the systems e.g. Microsoft office, SI-net, Business Objects, Course & Program management systems, eLearning systems, online application systems, and the use of CRM systems would be desirable.

Appointment to this role is subject to the successful completion of relevant pre-employment checks, which may include verification of the right to work in Australia and criminal history check. This may also include checks relating to gender-based violence matters or other integrity and conduct requirements.
