Job Summary

The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a federal work study student in the Academic Advising department on the Dahlonega campus. Student Assistant supports office operations and advising staff. Duties include performing clerical work, assisting in advising activities and the setup of advising appointments. The Student Assistant will work at the front desk; checking students in for their appointments, assisting them in low-level advising inquires and completing tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Welcoming and checking students in for appointments.
  • Assist students in setting up advising appointments.
  • Answer incoming phone calls for the GVL advising line.
  • Answer low-level advising questions. Ex: Confirming directory information from UNG website.
  • Direct students/visitors to appropriate offices. Ex: Directing students with FAFSA questions to Financial Aid.
  • Assist Administrative Assistant with tasks as assigned. Ex: Assist in the filing of paperwork.
  • Assist Advisors with tasks as assigned. Ex. Help prepping Orientation packets.

  • Ability to provide support remotely (via phone).

  • General Advising department information.
  • Operation of Advising Appointment system (adviseme)
  • General information about the offices Advising works closely with (Admissions, Financial Aid, Testing Center, Card Services, Learning Support, etc)
  • Ability to navigate and have general knowledge about the UNG website.

Required Qualifications

Must be enrolled at the University of North Georgia in a minimum of six (6) credit hours to qualify as a student worker.
