Student Assistant
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Student Assistant within Radiation Oncology / Cancer Biology, Shen Laboratory at the Rutgers Cancer Institute.
Under the direction of the Principal Investigator or designee, the Student Assistant will assist with laboratory research activities supporting ongoing grant-funded projects. The incumbent will assist with basic molecular biology techniques, mammalian cell culture experiments, and the analysis and presentation of experimental data supporting ongoing laboratory research.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Performs laboratory procedures under the supervision of the Principal Investigator or designated laboratory personnel while adhering to all Rutgers institutional biosafety, laboratory safety, and compliance regulations.
- Performs basic laboratory techniques including mammalian cell culture, maintenance of cell lines, and preparation of experimental reagents.
- Performs basic laboratory record keeping by recording experimental procedures and results in laboratory notebooks and maintaining organized documentation of research activities.
- Under the direction of the Principal Investigator or designee, performs guided data analysis of experimental results using standard laboratory software and computer tools.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Candidate must be a current Rutgers student.

- Standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing.
- No special vision requirements.
- Lifting up to 25 lbs.
WORK ENVIORNMENT:
- Laboratory environment. Moderate noise.
- Possible exposure to biological materials and laboratory chemicals in accordance with institutional safety procedures. Universal precautions are mandatory.
