Job Summary
The Student Conduct Coordinator works directly with the Associate Dean for Student Support to execute the day-to-day operations of the Office of Student Support and Student Conduct. The Coordinator assists with intake, review, investigation, and resolution of student misconduct cases, including administrative and formal hearings, educational meetings (¿Dean Talks¿), and informal conflict resolution.
This position maintains accurate case records in the student conduct management system (e.g., Maxient), monitors student compliance with sanctions, supports early intervention efforts, and prepares data for reporting and assessment purposes. The Coordinator also helps implement a student conduct program grounded in student development theory, develops and delivers training for faculty, staff, and students, and supports conduct hearing board members.
The Coordinator serves as an informational resource on the student conduct process for faculty, staff, students, parents, and community members.

Responsibilities
Administrative and Investigative Responsibilities
- Complete all administrative responsibilities related to student conduct; review conduct referrals, assign appropriate action, resolve complaints through administrative hearings or conduct board hearings, as appropriate, and monitor completion of sanctions.
- Complete impartial investigations for all student conduct matters as needed.
- Facilitate administrative and formal hearings for students, when applicable.
- Assist with the student conduct process for individual student and/or student organization misconduct including investigations and adjudication from inception to completion while ensuring compliance with all laws and university policies and procedures.
- Conduct educational meetings or ¿Dean Talks¿ with students as part of the resolution process for cases that do not result in formal code of conduct violations, providing guidance on university policies and expectations.
Record-Keeping and Compliance
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive case records within the student conduct case management system (e.g., Maxient), including case documentation, correspondence, and sanction tracking in accordance with institutional policies and departmental procedures.
- Monitor student compliance with assigned sanctions and coordinate follow-up communication regarding completion requirements.
- Maintain confidential records in accordance with FERPA.
- Maintain statistics on student conduct cases.
- Prepare case information data to meet federal and/or state reporting requirements.
Student Support and Early Intervention
- Assist students in navigating University processes and procedures.
- Assist with reviewing and routing student concern or behavioral intervention reports and collaborate with appropriate campus offices to support early intervention and student support efforts.
- Facilitate informal resolution and conflict management strategies for student disputes when appropriate and consistent with university policies.
Programmatic and Educational Responsibilities
- Assist with campus-wide programs educating the campus on the student conduct process and the Student Code of Conduct.
- Assist with development of workshops and programs for student success.
- Develop and deliver training for faculty, staff, and students on all facets of the student conduct process.
- Support the preparation and training of conduct hearing board members by providing procedural guidance and resources, ensuring hearings are conducted in accordance with university policies.
Assessment, Reporting, and Strategic Planning
- Plan, develop, and coordinate assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of policies, protocols, and sanctioning efforts.
- Compile and analyze conduct case data to identify trends and support departmental assessment, planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist in coordinating departmental strategic planning efforts, assessment, and annual reporting requirements.
Committee and Miscellaneous Duties
- Serve on committees and task forces as assigned.
- Serve as a resource for conduct board members.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in the areas of Psychology, Business Administration, or related field.
- Two or more years' experience involving Student Affairs.
- Experience conducting record keeping and maintaining documentation in compliance with rules of confidentiality.
- Experience collaborating, working on teams and building positive, effective relationships.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in the areas of Psychology, Business Administration, or related field;
- Strong organizational planning and management skills.
- Knowledge of Student Conduct procedures at the college/university level.
- Understanding of due process and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) related to student conduct records.
- Understanding of student development theory and the ability to apply student development concepts when working with students and designing sanctions and programmatic efforts.
- Demonstrated experience working with restorative practices in the student conduct process.
- Experience making professional presentation.
- Experience working with student information databases/systems and familiarity with FERPA privacy regulations {i.e. Maxient).

Organization
Albany State University is a four-year institution in southwest Georgia offering undergraduate and graduate liberal arts and professional degree programs, and a wide range of outreach programs to the community. Albany State University is located in Albany, a progressive city of 100,000, on a 206-acre campus featuring impressive new buildings. The school has gained a reputation as the "Unsinkable Albany State" after surviving two major floods.
Both traditional and non-traditional students make up the more than 4,000 students who attend Albany State. They come primarily from southwest and middle Georgia, Atlanta, other states in the U.S., and several foreign countries. The average student age is 24 and about 40 percent of the students live in on-campus housing.
Albany State offers more than 30 undergraduate degree programs, of which the most popular majors are biology, criminal justice, computer science, middle-grades education, business administration and nursing. A historically black institution, Albany State was founded in 1903 as the Albany Bible and Manual Training Institute and supported by private religious organizations. It remained privately supported through 1917, when it began to receive state support and became the Georgia Normal and Agricultural College. It continued to grow and in 1932, when the Board of Regents was established, it became part of the University System of Georgia. The mission was expanded in 1943, and it became a four-year college and assumed the name Albany State College. In 1981 the college offered its first graduate program and in 1996 its name was changed to Albany State University.
